Alex Hsu
is a furniture designer and artist from New Hope, PA, a quaint, arts town on the Delaware river, a hub for early 20th century American Impressionist painting and home to George Nakashima’s furniture studio. The son of an architect, he learned from a young age the impact of the spaces we inhabit and the importance of the things we put in them.
His work pays close attention to the materiality, form, texture, and color of objects — elements, when addressed with intention, that have the power to transform the ordinary into remarkable. Through the combination of traditional and experimental use of materials and handcraft and digital technologies, he aims to make work that is seemingly familiar yet delightfully unexpected.
His studio is located in sunny Los Angeles.
